Volunteer Iowa's social media sites terms of use

The following User Policy (β€œPolicy”) governs the use of official Volunteer Iowa social media sites and web pages to include social networking pages, blogs and file sharing sites. Please read the rules contained in this Policy carefully. Use of any aspect of these sites constitutes agreement to comply with these rules. If you cannot agree with these rules, please do not use the websites. The Policy may be modified from time to time; the date of the most recent revisions will appear on this page. Continued access of the website will constitute acceptance of any changes or revisions to the Policy. Failure to follow these rules, whether listed below or in bulletins posted at various points in the website, may result in suspension or termination of access to the website without notice.

Comments by others are not endorsed

Volunteer Iowa does not necessarily endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with the comments, opinions, or statements posted on the website. Any information or material placed online, including advice and opinions, are the views and responsibility of those making the comments and do not represent the views of Volunteer Iowa, the State of Iowa or its third-party service providers. By submitting a comment for posting, users agree that Volunteer Iowa, the State of Iowa and its third-party service providers are not responsible, and shall have no liability, with respect to any information or materials posted by others, including defamatory, offensive or illicit material, even material that violates this Policy.

Editing and deletions

Volunteer Iowa reserves the right, but undertakes no duty, to review, edit, move or delete any material submitted as a comment to the information provided for display or placed on the social media sites in its sole discretion, without notice. Comments submitted to these sites will be reviewed and a representative sample may be posted on the site or inappropriate comments may be deleted at the sole discretion of Volunteer Iowa, in accordance with State of Iowa policy. Submissions from all viewpoints are accepted, but all participants must agree to the following Terms of Participation:

  • To ensure constructive dialogue, only comments related and relevant to the Commission and its mission or programs may be posted.

  • Refrain from posting comments or questions that contain threats, obscenity, or material that violates the law, or abusive, defamatory or sexually explicit material.

  • Submissions cannot include:

    • Obscene or threatening language or discrimination (hate speech) based on protected classes such as race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, age, or disability.

    • Promotion of services or products (not including non-commercial links relevant to the topic).

    • Personal or sensitive information (phone numbers, email or postal addresses).

    • Comments or photos that suggest or encourage illegal activity.

    • Solicitations or advertisements. This includes promotion or endorsement of any financial, commercial, government or non-governmental agency or any political party or candidate or religion. Attempts to defame or defraud any financial, commercial, government, or non-governmental agency or individual.

The appearance of external hyperlinks does not constitute endorsement by Volunteer Iowa of the linked websites, or the information, products or services contained therein. Volunteer Iowa does not exercise any editorial control over the information you may find at these locations. All links are consistent with the stated purpose of these websites.
